Spinal Decompression: Relieve Disc Pressure Without Surgery
Advanced therapy to gently stretch the spine and relieve nerve pressure. Effective for herniated discs and sciatica, pain relief without surgery.
What is Spinal Decompression?
Spinal decompression is an advanced therapeutic technique that gently stretches the spine to create space between vertebrae and relieve pressure on discs and nerves.
When discs become herniated or bulging, they put pressure on the nerves in your spine. This causes pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness. Spinal decompression gently pulls the spine apart, taking pressure off the disc and allowing it to heal naturally.
It's a non-surgical alternative to invasive procedures.
-
Your spinal discs are like jelly donuts, they have a soft center (nucleus) and a tough outer ring (annulus). When the disc is herniated or bulging, the soft center pushes out and presses on the nerve.
Spinal decompression works by:
Gently stretching the spine
Creating negative pressure (traction) within the disc
Pulling the nucleus back into place
Relieving pressure on the nerve
Allowing oxygen and nutrients to flow to the disc
Promoting healing and regeneration of the disc
The result: Pressure relief, pain reduction, and healing without surgery.
-
Spinal decompression is especially effective for:
Herniated discs
Bulging discs
Sciatica and sciatic pain
Stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal)
Radiculopathy (nerve pain radiating down the arm or leg)
Chronic lower back pain
Chronic neck pain
Post-surgical pain
Spinal Decompression vs. Surgery
Spinal Decompression:
Non-invasive
No incisions or anesthesia
No downtime
Allows your body to heal naturally
Can be done in the clinic
No surgical risks
Promotes healing and regeneration
Spinal decompression is an excellent alternative for many patients before considering surgery.
Spinal Surgery:
Invasive procedure requiring anesthesia
Requires incisions and recovery time
Permanent structural changes
Surgical risks (infection, bleeding, nerve damage)
Expensive
May not resolve underlying disc issues
What Does Spinal Decompression Feel Like?
During the treatment:
You'll feel a gentle pulling sensation as your spine is stretched. Most patients find it relaxing and pain-relieving. There should be no sharp pain or discomfort, if there is, let Dr. Julio know immediately.
After the treatment:
Many patients feel relief immediately. Some feel slight soreness as the muscles adjust to the decompression (similar to soreness after exercise). This usually passes quickly.
Over the course of treatment:
As you progress through your sessions, you should notice gradual improvement, less pain, better mobility, reduced nerve symptoms.
