What is Chiropractic?

Your Nervous System Runs Everything
Your nervous system is responsible for regulating every system and function in your body. It controls movement, sensation, organ function, immune response, healing…everything.
Chiropractic is used to correct any dysfunction that interrupts or affects proper function of your nervous system. These dysfunctions are what we call subluxations.

What Is a Subluxation? (And Why You Should Care)
A subluxation is when there is an incorrect movement, translation, or improper position of a vertebra, which causes irritation to the nerves that pass through it.
Subluxations happen in everyone's body. But here's the thing: not everyone feels pain from them.
Why? Only 10% of your nerves are associated with pain fibers. The other 90% control function and healing.
What you might notice instead:
Digestive issues
Asthma
Muscle weakness
Depression
Anxiety
Low back pain
Sciatic pain
Neck pain
Disc herniations
This is why everyone, regardless of experiencing pain, should get constant chiropractic treatment to prevent these bigger symptoms from developing.

Think of Your Nervous System Like a Garden Hose
Your nervous system's job is to maintain your field (your body) green and healthy.
When there's a kink in the hose (a dysfunction, subluxation, or stressor), the hose can't do its job at full potential.
Water still flows through it, it hasn't been shut off, but the field becomes spotty and starts dying in the areas that aren't getting enough water.
That's the relationship between your nervous system and your body when there's a dysfunction. The nutrients and signals aren't reaching where they need to go. So your body starts breaking down.

What Causes Subluxations? The Three T's: Thoughts, Traumas, and Toxins
All stressors fall into three categories:
TOXINS (Chemical Stressors)
High processed foods, sugars, refined carbohydrates, and unhealthy fats create inflammation in your body. This inflammation interrupts your nervous system.THOUGHTS (Emotional Stressors)
High periods of stress in your life (work, family, home) cause negative thoughts and experiences. Your muscles tense up in response. Those tense muscles pull vertebrae out of alignment, causing a subluxation.TRAUMAS (Physical Stressors)
Car accidents, falls, bad posture, bad workouts, repetitive motions, lack of sleep, or even overdoing it in the garden. All physical stress on your body can cause misalignment. Most people are dealing with all three at once. That's why comprehensive chiropractic care matters.
